🌱 We’ve officially launched our project under the Global Environment Facility Challenge Program for Adaptation Innovation. Together with UNIDO, we’re harnessing the power of ISO standards to support developing countries in achieving their climate adaptation commitments. Over the past three days, we worked in Geneva closely with our members from Costa Rica (INTECO - Instituto de Normas Técnicas de Costa Rica), Colombia (ICONTEC), and Trinidad & Tobago (Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards) in a pivotal workshop to co-design the implementation of this initiative in their countries. A huge thank you to the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and TC207 (ISO Environmental Management) for their invaluable support in shaping this project! ✅ Why standards for climate adaptation? ISO’s Adaptation to Climate Change standards (ISO 14090 series) provide a structured framework for planning, implementing, and monitoring adaptation initiatives. They help identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and optimize investments in climate resilience—turning best practices into action on the ground. By bridging global standards with local needs, we’re ensuring that international expertise translates into meaningful, real-world impact for communities most vulnerable to climate change.
