#ICYMI: Last Thursday, the 844th Communications Squadron held a ribbon cutting ceremony for their newly renovated Fix IT Help Desk in the Pentagon. Over the last three years, the 844th CS worked to innovate how they deliver communications support to enable Airmen and Guardians to get back into the fight quickly. The help desk provides an in-person service that reduces a user's downtime in the building from days to minutes, delivering a one-stop shop experience for all 9,000 Department of the Air Force users. In addition to its customer-centric design, the 844th CS also added smart lockers outside the help desk allowing customers to pick up and drop off their devices outside of normal duty hours as well as a self-service IT vending machine that enables customers to quickly pick up peripherals such as computer mice, keyboards, and CAC readers. Since April 2022, Fix IT Help Desk technicians have resolved over 14,000 issues and have prevented the loss of tens of thousands of productivity hours for the DAF. INSPIRING TOMORROW'S LEADERS// Last Friday, Air Force Junior ROTC students from Wise High School stopped by the 1st Helicopter Squadron on Joint Base Andrews to tour the facility and learn more about what it takes to serve in the United States Air Force. The visit was a part of the Department of the Air Force’s GO Inspire program, a recruiting program which aims to increase awareness of accession pathways among underrepresented groups, broaden community outreach to attract diverse candidates from science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, and strengthen diversity among the rated communities, as well as the broader Air and Space Forces. To kick off the visit, students were greeted by Brig. Gen. Todd A. Fogle, special assistant to the commander of the Air Force District of Washington, who spoke to them about his journey to serving in the Air Force as a general officer as well as the different education incentives, scholarship opportunities and career paths available to them. During the visit, students participated in a virtual reality flight simulator, received an in-depth look at the squadron’s UH-1N Hueys, and had the opportunity to try on aviation equipment like helmets and night vision goggles. #AimHigh | Prince George's County Public Schools | United States Space Force
