If you’re in the YouTube Partner Program and want to make money through ads, make sure your content follows our advertiser-friendly content guidelines.
We take all aspects of your content into account. When we talk about content, we mean your:
- Video, Short, or live stream content
- Title
- Thumbnail
- Description
- Tags
To be suitable for ads, all your content must meet our advertiser-friendly content guidelines.
Add context to your videos
Context is key. If there’s educational, documentary, scientific, or artistic value, that may change a video’s suitability for advertisers.
Adding context also helps us make the correct monetization decision. Our systems don’t always get it right. If our systems mark your video as not suitable for all advertisers, you can request human review. Our human reviewers will assess your content and context to make a final monetization decision.

Turn off ads for content that is not advertiser friendly
If you want to upload content that does not follow our advertiser-friendly content guidelines, you should turn off ads on individual videos. This option allows you to opt out of monetization for any videos that are not advertiser friendly while you remain in the YouTube Partner Program.
