Ask questions about a PDF with Gemini

Important: This feature is only available for:

• Gemini Advanced users. Learn how to upgrade to Gemini Advanced.
• Devices with Android 15 or later versions.

To ask questions and find info about a PDF file, you can use Gemini in Files by Google:

1. On your Android device, open Files by Google .
2. Open a PDF file.
   • Learn how to search for a file.
3. While you view a PDF, use Gemini on your Files by Google app.
   • Press and hold the Power button.
   • Or, say “Hey Google.”
4. Tap Ask about PDF.
   • When you include a PDF file with your prompt, Gemini analyzes it to provide information in a response. Learn more about how Google uses uploaded files.
   • You can only add PDFs that are less than 25 MB in size.
   • Protected PDFs aren’t supported.
5. Enter your question.
   • Or, to speak, tap Microphone .
6. Tap Send .
7. To continue your conversation with Gemini and expand the window, tap Open in New .
