To easily access frequently used files, you can mark them as Starred.
Important: If you uninstall and reinstall the app, you need to mark your files as Starred again.
Mark files as Starred
- On your Android device, open Files by Google app
.
- Select a category or a storage device.
- Find the files you want to mark as Starred.
- To mark one file:
- In Grid view
:
a. Press and hold the file.
b. At the top right, tap MoreAdd to Starred.
- In List view
:
a. Next to the file, tap MoreAdd to Starred.
- In Grid view
- To mark multiple files:
- In Grid view
:
a. Press and hold a file.
b. To select more files, at the top of each file, tap the circle.
c. At the top right, tap MoreAdd to Starred.
- In List view
:
a. Next to a file, tap MoreSelect.
b. To select more files, next to each file, tap the circle.
c. At the top right, tap MoreAdd to Starred.
- In Grid view
- To mark one file:
- At the bottom, you’ll find a confirmation message “Added to Starred.”
- Files that are marked as Starred are represented with Star
.
- To find files marked as Starred, under "Collections," tap Starred.
Unmark files as Starred
- On your Android device, open Files by Google app
.
- Under "Collections," tap Starred.
- To unmark a file as Starred:
- In Grid view
:
a. Press and hold the file.
b. Tap MoreRemove from Starred.
- In List view
:
a. Next to the file, tap MoreRemove from Starred.
- In Grid view
- To unmark multiple files:
- In Grid view
:
a. Press and hold a file.
b. To select more files, at the top of each file, tap the circle.
c. At the top right, tap MoreRemove from Starred.
- In List view
:
a. Next to a file, tap MoreSelect.
b. To select more files, next to each file, tap the circle.
c. At the top right, tap MoreRemove from Starred.
- In Grid view
Tip: You can also remove your Starred files from the Starred folder.
