Advertiser Verification: Change name or ownership

Google provides translated versions of our Help Center, though they are not meant to change the content of our policies. The English version is the official language we use to enforce our policies. To view this article in a different language, use the language dropdown at the bottom of the page.

Build trust, increase transparency, and get access to more features by completing advertiser verification. You’ll just need to complete a few tasks, such as answering a few questions about your organization. After getting verified, some of your info will appear in ad disclosures and the Ads Transparency Center, which provides context about an advertiser and their ads.

Fix issues with organization verification

Want to change the name in the ad disclosure? Did the wrong organization get verified? To get verified for the right organization or the right type of organization, you’ll need to reset an account’s verification and get verified again. Only a Google Ads account admin can do this.

Note: If you had a deadline to complete verification, you’ll get a new deadline after resetting verification.

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Billing icon Billing Icon.
  2. Click Advertiser verification.
  3. Click Reset verification.
  4. Follow the instructions

Change your payment profile account type

If you don’t have the option to click Edit Edit beside your account type on the Billing Settings page, you’ll need to contact Google Ads support.

Change your legal name

To change your legal name, you’ll need to provide a document that shows that the legal name has changed but the legal entity remains the same. Any change to the name will also be reflected on invoices and documents. Changes will affect all accounts that use the payments profiles.

Important: If you pay with monthly invoicing, you’ll need to contact us to change your legal name.

To change your legal personal or business name, you’ll need to:

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Billing icon Billing Icon.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Payer details.
  4. Next to Name for individuals, or Organization name for organizations, click the Pencil icon and then click Change name (if available) or Complete a request form.
  5. Follow the instructions to change your name.

You may need to provide additional info and documents to change your name. Once your new name is verified, you’ll get a confirmation email, and the updated name will appear under Payer details.

If there’s an issue with the process, you’ll get an email with more info. You’ll also be able to submit again or cancel the name change request. Your Google Ads account will continue to be verified until the new name is verified.
