GNI emphasizes shared learning as a core component of its mission. By tapping into the collective knowledge and practical experiences of its diverse members, GNI is able to address emerging challenges related to freedom of expression, privacy, and the tech sector with unparalleled resources.
The concept of shared learning involves providing resources and expertise that can assist with the implementation of the GNI Principles. This learning process is reciprocal, influencing, and being influenced by GNI’s efforts to provide a framework, empower policy, and foster accountability.
How it works
The internal learning agenda is developed by GNI’s Learning Committee. Members raise issues and start discussions openly. GNI encourages broad participation and diverse perspectives to foster a comprehensive learning environment.
GNI also organizes live issue calls, focusing on timely challenges faced by companies as well as key emerging issues. These calls provide a confidential setting for GNI members to seek input and exchange knowledge on specific issues.
Where helpful, GNI will extend invitations to external experts and partners or make calls available to a broader audience. Below, you can learn more about GNI’s most recent learning work.
Learning Forums
GNI also organizes a public multistakeholder learning forum annually to bring together participants and stakeholders impacted by freedom of expression and privacy in the technology sector. Previous forums have been held in Brussels, Washington D.C., Silicon Valley, and Geneva, providing a platform for meaningful discussions and collaboration. You can read more about our latest Annual Learning Forum held in Brussels here. You can also read about our learning forums in 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2014, 2013, and 2012.
