Using Qi charge pad with iPhone 16 Pro

I have a non Apple phone case with a built in mag charger on my Apple Pro 16. The Qi pad does not even light up to show it is charging with or without the case. When I had an iPhone 11, it worked without the case.

Any help would be appreciated.

iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18

In my previous post, I failed to say that the Qi pad was installed from the manufacturer. It came installed on my 2017 Toyota Tacoma Ltd, when I purchased the truck, new. After reading the response to my original post, I tried repositioning my 16 Pro in a different orientation than I previously did with iPhone 11 and it started charging my 16 Pro. So, I guess the coils in the phone were not aligned perfectly and that is why it wasn’t charging from the Qi Pad.
I thank you for your help.

Yes, it might have helped if you had said this was pad in your car. This is a very common issue with most cars. Especially older cars, which have only one coil and it may not be aligned optimally to work with a MagSafe iPhone and another issue is the camera bump often interrupts charging on car pads. I'm glad you came back to say that repositioning the phone worked. Thanks!

It sounds like you're trying to use a MagSafe case on a non-MagSafe Qi charging pad. If the charging coils in the charging pad are not perfectly aligned with the coils in the back of the phone, it won't charge. Many older Qi chargers weren't designed to work with MagSafe, so it would make sense this is an issue with your charger.

I'd consider buying a newer MagSafe charger since you're completely set up to use one, including have a MagSafe case on your iPhone. They don't have to be expensive and you can find literally hundreds of MagSafe chargers on Amazon or your favorite retailer, including Apple or BestBuy.
